As a teenager I learned the basics of photography using my Dad's fully manual Nikkormat. Forgetting much of what I learned during college and the first few years of work in ‘the real world', I decided to start anew after moving to Atlanta in 1999.
I enrolled in a class at Spruill Center for the Arts focused on Creativity and Vision; taught by Ann Clancy, a student of Ansel Adams and Bob Kohlbrenner. The first assignment seemed like a simple exercise – 12 different images of an inanimate object – became quite a challenge.
Ann's passion for black and white photography inspired me to try the wet darkroom. Since 2000 I have continually refined my skills in wet darkroom work.
Most of images on this site were shot with a Nikon N90s, a Holga or a 4x5 View Camera. The silver negatives are all printed on Fiber paper and most are toned or split toned with processes learned from Jonathan Bailey.
